Be involved with Broadland
No-one can know a community as well as the people who actually live there, so when it comes to tackling local issues and building a friendly and vibrant community few are better placed to make things happen than local residents themselves – you!
We have made a commitment to making sure that your voice is heard and that you get the opportunity to be involved in the way we provide your services.
We are keen to support and encourage tenants and residents (individually and as a group) to get involved to influence decisions about your home. We want to make sure we’re providing services that meet your needs and aspirations and that they are delivered to a standard you expect.
Tenant Involvement is about giving you a real say in your housing service and shaping the decisions that affect you, your home and your community.
You may want to get involved because you want to improve a service you receive, create a better sense of community where you live and influence decisions made by us. Broadland is keen to encourage all of its tenants and residents to get involved because we know that your involvement is vital to delivering a better service.
What you think really does matter!
How can you get involved?
We recognise that everyone has different priorities and views and that some will have more time than others. This is why we have a range of ways in which you can get involved.
As an individual tenant you can be involved through:
Joining the VISION club
This is a group of interested tenants who are happy to give their views on the services that Broadland Housing provide. It means we will occasionally send you a survey to complete or invite you to a one off focus group to discuss a particular aspect of what we do. This was set up so you can participate in a number of different ways to suit your lifestyle – you have the choice
Joining the Readers panel
You would be asked to read and comment on literature that we provide so it can be ‘tenant approved’.
Joining the Door to Door Editorial Panel
Come and be part of our Editorial Panel by meeting up with members of staff every 3 months to discuss what should go in the tenant magazine. Or if you would like to be less formally involved just send us an article or story to include in the magazine by emailing communications@broadlandgroup.org
Join your Local Area Forum
If you have more time available and would like to be more formally involved you can join one of the Area Forums. Forums give you a voice and provide the opportunity to influence decisions about housing services and discuss issues of common concern.
Give us a suggestion or comment at any time.
You can do this by asking for further information, suggesting improvements, letting us know when you have received a service below your standard or praise us when we get it right. You can do this by visiting our offices, meeting us when we are out in the Vision bus, phoning, emailing or through the website.
Become a street voice
A Street Voice is a volunteer who acts as an informal contact point for other tenants that live in their street/road or close to where they live. They find out what issues tenants or residents in the street are facing and report back to us with any issues, problems or general trends that they are made aware of. We also ask that a street voice walks around their local area with us, once a year, so that we can identify possible improvements together.
If you want to get involved with your neighbours:
- You can set up a tenants or residents association or community group
- Work with others to make a difference to where you live by making an application to our Environmental Improvement Budget
How will we help
We will support you to get involved by:
- Helping arrange meeting room space
- Provide administrative support including photocopying
- Help with transport, carers and childcare costs so you can go to meetings
- Provide skills training
- Access information to help you
Meet the team
If you would like to find out more about any of the initiatives detailed above please contact a member of the Resident Participation Team, Sarah Cook (Manager) or Bob Patel (Assistant), on 01603 750236/295.
